The Facebook group has just announced at the F8, its annual global event for developers, that the Messenger API for Instagram will begin rolling out publicly in June.

This is very important news in our industry. Previously, the Messenger API for Instagram was only available to a small number of select beta testers.

For leading brands and retailers, Instagram has become a key business channel in addition to being a powerful media. When customers see an interesting product in a post or in an Instagram Shop, they want to be able to start a conversation with the brand or the retailer. 

So far, it was difficult for them to connect their customer services or salespersons to their Instagram accounts, because the native Instagram inbox was not designed to meet the needs of large and fast growing businesses. Now, with the Messenger API for Instagram and Alcméon, it’s easy to collect, triage and dispatch all the customers’ requests. It’s also possible to design and maintain without coding an Instagram chatbot to start the conversation or answer frequently asked questions.

Alcméon was part of the beta Messenger API program, and has been able to develop a fully functional Instagram conversational editor and an integrated console for advisors, community managers and salespersons. 

 Leading brands like Carrefour, Disneyland Paris, Sephora, Sarenza Monoprix, LVMH Hublot are already actively using the API and Alcméon to interact with their customers directly on Instagram. And both customers and advisors are delighted !
